By facing downwards to see where you're going, you'll often fall short. Surprisingly, I land quite a lot of pounces this way. I don't point down to see where I am going, I just guess where they are.

You can bash hunters out the air just through practice, eventually you'll get the timing right. On scavenge this works better as people will shoot you and often hit the can, igniting it and causing fun. Pounce when people are stationery, or pouring a can. Practice makes perfect on this, after the hundreds of hours I have put in, I can land high damage pounces even on moving targets. Some people are pretty good at bashing you out of the air, and it can be quite obvious when they hear you leaping. I'll give you my tips for each SI class, and perhaps it'll help you a bit.Ģ5 damage pounce is of course, wonderful. I can't give you a definite answer for comparisons between L4D1 and L4D2, but I have racked up hundreds of hours on both games and continue to play both daily. 40% of the time, while playing charger, I find myself in this kind of situation: The one which could (nearly) instant kill a whole survivor team: the charger. Does anyone know if the time between the moment where the smoker "shoots" and the moment where the survivor is actually immobilized has been increased ?Īnd last but not least, the most deadly special infected from Left4dead 2. It's easier to run in a blind spot while the smoker has launched its attack and escape without getting caught. Does anyone know if the "pouncable hitbox" has been reduced between L4D and L4D2?Īlso it seems that survivors can more easily escape from the smoker's slobbery tongue in L4D2 than in L4D. )Īchieving a perfect pounce with a hunter is harder than before: most of time, we gently land on the shoes of the survivor we were aiming at without inflicting any damage or pinning him down, while we couldn't have missed him in L4D (the first).

So we can leave the lag and other major network issues out of this problem. I've been reading the whole changelog of L4D2 together with the L4D wiki, looking for answers, but couldn't find anything about nerfing the special infected in the way I'm about to describe here.Īlso, please consider we (my friends and I) have been playing the game for hundreds of hours on multiple servers/networks, including local networks. But some friends and I have the feeling that it became even worse in Left4dead 2, especially while playing the special infected (more specifically those who can "catch": hunter, smoker, jockey and charger). Its a problem for Left4dead just as it is any other Source game (TF2, CSS, etc). This can be avoided by dodging, which is quite hard.Everyone knows how glitchy hitboxes can be with the Source engine. This is a popular technique used mostly by human controlled Chargers (since the AI Chargers weren't programmed to do this) in maps situated in high places, such as in No Mercy's finale and Dead Center's first map when the Chargers charges someone out of the building, leaving them helpless to instantly die. However, a ' karma kill' cannot be avoided without some experience. Sometimes when someone in the team acts like an idiot but then gets karma charged, the teammates will normally laugh and leave the idiot die to death. In-game, a ' karma charge' is done when a Charger (either AI controlled or human controlled in Versus or Scavenge) charges someone and pummels him or her to death without the survivor's teammates helping. In these series, he invented the catchphrase " Karma Charger is always watching".

Then Criken picked it up and used it in his "Left 4 Dead 2 Funny Moments of Getting Owned" series and from there it was launched into memedome. From there the term reappeared in several videos, including """>Why Modded Servers Scare Me". The term first appeared in YouTube user gNatFreak's video """>Expert Demo Fails 2".

This special infected was notorious for being spawned by the Director, attacking lone players, and pummelling them to death or charging them off cliffs/buildings. This meme's history can be traced back to when the Charger was introduced in Left 4 Dead 2. It was popularized by machinima maker and "Left 4 Dead 2 Funny Moments of Getting Owned" series director Criken. Karma Charger is a meme exclusive to the game Left 4 Dead 2.
